The doors are officially open! Wildtree has unveiled eight stunning model homes, and they’re ready for you to explore. But before you set foot in those dreamy models, a little prep work will go a long way. Whether you’re narrowing down your options or just starting your home search, getting organized ahead of time will help you make the most of your visit and maybe even find the home that makes your heart go pitter patter.
Make a Checklist
Before you even pull into our parking lot for your model home tour, take some time to think about what you want in your dream home. Are you looking for a single-story home, or does a two-story layout better suit your family? Do you need an open-concept floor plan, a spacious kitchen island, or a three-car garage? Jot it all down. If you’re eyeing any specific upgrades, like a spa-worthy primary bathroom or built-in storage in the mudroom, make a note of those, too. Having a clear idea of your priorities will help you focus as you tour.

Research the Builders
Not all builders are the same, so a little research can help you zero in on the ones that align with your style and budget. Visit builder websites to explore floor plans, browse photos, and read reviews. If you have friends who have recently moved into a new home, find out about their experience so you can note any green or red flags.
Write Out Your Questions
Knowledge is power, so go in with a list of questions to ask the sales agents. Which features are standard, and which ones will cost extra? What’s the timeframe for building the home? Are there inventory homes available for a quick move-in? What’s included in the home warranty? Getting clarity now can save you a lot of surprises (and stress) down the line.

Take Notes and Photos
There’s a good chance you’ll visit multiple model homes during your trip (we have eight, after all), and they can start to blur together by the end of the day. Bring a notebook or use your phone to jot down what you loved—and didn’t love—about each home. Snap pictures of details like kitchen finishes, bathroom layouts, and backyard space. This will make it so much easier to compare homes later when you’re making decisions.

Look Beyond the Décor
Yes, the furniture and décor in model homes are designed to wow you, but they won’t come with the house. Pay attention to the layout, craftsmanship, and flow of the space. Are the rooms functional for your lifestyle? Will your existing furniture fit? Picture your own style in the space.
Ask to See an Inventory Home
While model homes are often loaded with upgrades, inventory homes give you a better idea of what the builder offers as standard. If there’s one home available, take a look to see what you’d actually get at the base price. Some builders include upgrades in their inventory homes so you may also get an opportunity to see upgrades you want that aren’t showcased in the model. And if you like what you see, you can purchase the inventory home for a quick move-in.
